I need your grace to remind me to find my own.

New blog post! less than a month after my last one! *checks outside* The world hasn't ended!
So I'm at work... bored out of my mind, and I thought to myself "what a better way to waste my time than to self indulgently complain about my day to about six anonymous people and Rae?" The answer from myself to myself was "no better way self, you brilliant human being you, no better way." But actually I did nothing at work escept complete the few menial tasks that had to be done (it took me 2 hours), answer phones (4 phone calls), go on facebook, read Fanfiction, get caught up on all the latest facts and throries of my favorite TV shows and check all my favorite blogs. (post secret, failblog, and even MLIA, Rae.)All this makes me a horrible employee and an excellent Nerd. Which seems to be the theme of my life "I'm a horrible student, instead of studying I caught up on Lost, But at least I now know absolutely everything about it!!!" or "I'm a horrible daughter, instead of cleaning my room like my parents asked (begged), I read fanfiction and trolled message boards about all the best shows!" Sometimes I think this nerd mentality is a curse. When I like somthing I don't just like it, I obssess over it, and I obssess HARD. I've heard this from a bunch of other nerds so I know it's not just me. It's like this obsessive complusive need to know everything about something. If I find something I like I must immediatly watch/ read everything to do with it and then troll the internet for any extra theories/facts/oppinions/cannon, and screw anything else I have to do. This is obviously more importanant. I mean I know other people who love The U.K. and the culture and the history but not a lot of them would go out of their way to learn Welsh (so hard.)For abosolutely no reason at all. Oh man... It just leads me to believe that there is a certain predisposition to being a nerd. I just do a study. I could make millions, win a nobel prize... I'd probably need a psych degree... too much work. Maybe I'll make it a YA novel. They're always more profound than people give them credit for.

In other news Savy is staying at my house for august long, which is exciting. i'll get to see Rae again which is lovely!
I also through a successful surprise party on Sunday! I was pleased that she had no idea! Woo!
I am so ready to be done with work and go back to school. although I know that the minute I get there I'll be done with school and ready to go back to doing Jack all. I think I'm going to travel next summer. That'll be nice, and I deserve some off time. I've been in school for the past 14 years and working the entire summer for the past 6. thats six years of just getting weekends off. I think if I work another summer without taking a break I'm going to throw something through a window.

Update for those who care: I have twenty minutes left! Woo! This post has successfully wasted time and I Should probably go tidy things up before I leave. Blogs out of boredom.... hopefully it's not too boring.

TTFN,

Tienes un amigo en mí Sí Usted tiene un amigo en mí.

So I suck. I've told Rae this many many times in the past couple of days... usually the day after I promised her I'd blog. So I suck. Sorry.

Alot's happend since the last time I blogged. Lost ended which was tragic. I thought it ended brilliantly. It was emotionally fulfilling and it was everything I wanted it to be. Toy Story 3 came out!!!!! Can I just say I've been waiting 11 years for this sucker? It lived up to, and surpassed, my every expectation So that's nice. I also have the spanish version of "You've got a Friend in me" Stuck in my head, Which is bad because I don't particularly speak Spanish so I just pretend to know the words and hope I'm not saying anything embarrassing. I've gotten obsessed with Doctor Who and Torchwood. D'ONT LAUGH. Both shows are beyond amazing and I love them to pieces.

Soccer (I hate calling it that, but I feel like an impostor if I call it Football) has started and almost finished. I love the world cup. So much. It makes me happy. I love sports for the way they can bring a nation together. Canada saw it with the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 and many countries around the world are seeing it now. I started out cheering For England, because I always cheer for England, But they played like crap for most of it and ended up getting knocked out of the Round of 16 by Germany, much to my disappointment and embarrassment (Adam will never let me hear the end of it.) I also cheered for New Zeland. They were supposed to be a lightweight team, but they ended up playing brilliantly and even though they got knocked out in the group stage, they still held their own (Even Tying Italy, The reining champs) After that I cheered for Netherlands on one side and Spain on the other. Of course it's just my luck that They both made the final. I totally should have put money down. I'm going to cheer for Spain, not only because they beat Germany (!!!) but because they also played absolutely Brilliantly in that game, they have excellent Ball handling skills (That's what she said?) This is also the first time they've been in the World cup final. Ever. So I'm pleased for them. Plus their colours are red and gold so they must be Gryffindors and that means I have to cheer for them.

In me news, I'm learning Welsh, which is a bitch of a language. Seriously I can' make half the sounds that it requires, it's also not a stagnant language, they have what they call mutations which change how certain consonants and vowels sound. But there's no trick you just have to know. I love languages but next time I decide to learn one please remind me to pick one with the same alphabet as english, and not a language that not even it's own people speak! (only about 40% of welsh people speak welsh.) I've also developed an affection for Wales, and all the UK really, but The Welsh have the best accents ever. I'm thinking I'm going to move to the UK when I'm done with school. I can apply for a Ancestry Visa because I have a grandparent that was born there, and after 5 years I can apply for Citizenship.
I've been writing. Sorta. I always come up with a good idea and I'll start writing it, then I'll get stuck, get bored, and give up. I so don't have the patience.
I'm going to BC this weekend to meet up with my parents. It was supposed to be a trip with a couple of friends, but only my Ex boyfriend can come. we're really good friends but I can see it being a bit awkward. I'll let you know how it goes.

Baby I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grey.

I would like to launch a formal apology (mostly to Rae) For my complete lack of blogging. I was super busy and didn't have time, and after that everything stopped and I suffered from a lack of anything interesting to blog about. Seriously. I've become obsessed with doctor Who and Torchwood (freaken great!), I've caught up on Lost (AWESOME!) I've started a new Comic series called Y the Last Man (Brilliant!) I've spent an inordinate amount of money on aforementioned pastimes and I've gone out more times in the past week and a half then I did this past semester, I'm SO Far behind on TV and Podcasts it's not even funny and OH!! I just remembered I have $15 for itunes sitting in my purse that I haven't used yet! sweet! Also I'm nocturnal now (be proud Rae) I haven't gone to bed before 4:00am since I've been home and I haven't slept for more than 6 hours. Oof. But really nothing interesting has been happening It's just been ridiculous. I've been getting more into guitar and I'm learning more more songs (Hint Hint Rae!) and maybe I'll learn songs written by a friend of mine (hint hint rae!). I start work soon. I'm both looking forward to it and not. Money= Yay! Having to actually do something= BOO!

Anyways! I'll blog more often I promise

Tattoos (Image Heavy)

So the really good thing about this blog is that it allows me to lay things out in a way that I can really visualize them. Feedback helps but is not required. This blog is mostly for me.

That being said: The following is a short list of tattoos I want! unfortunately it's 14 items long. That's not gonna happen right away. So Time to narrow down the list. If you have input feel free to comment!

Tattoos in no particular order. For the writing, I'm really not sue of the font at all so I just use the same font for all of them. * Note: Sorry about formatting but You get it, right? *

1.
Invictus is the latin word for Unconquerable. I have an obsession with latin, and I also Have an obsession with the poem of the same name.

2.
These are the last two lines from that poem, and they really resonate with me. This is one of my "Definitely getting" Tattoos

3.
So this is a quote from Lord of the Rings. Which I love and have read one a year since I was 9. That's Ten years!!! It's really important to me.
If I get that one it'll be coupled with this:

4.
The white tree of Gondor. Symbolizing hope.

5.
This is from the Kurt Vonnegut novel "Slaughterhouse V" It's the thing they say when ever someone dies. It symbolizes that the character is moving on. The problem with this tattoo is that everyone and their dog has it.
This tatto is interchangeable with this one:

6.
Another Quote from Slaughterhouse V. again Everyone has it. But I really love the symbolism.

7.
Harry Potter! It's been such an influence on my life and the Marauders are my favorite. I think this is a tasteful and non-strange way of showing my love for the books. as apposed to, say, getting a lightning bolt tattooed on my forehead. (Which I would totally do.)

8.

From Alice in wonderland, another one of my loves. It's always been a favorite quote of mine and I love the childish nature of it.

9.

Narnia is yet another one of my childhood loves. I would get the lamppost from this illustration. In fact I could see myself getting this whole illustration done. (Side note: I hate the word lamppost. It just looks stupid. It's been driving me crazy all night.)

10.

(Gryffin)This has triple meaning. Not only is it my favorite mythological creature it's also the symbol of gryffindor, the house I Identify with. And It's Peter Pevensie's symbol as the High King of narnia (my favorite character) I'd probably get it done in red and gold (the right colours for both) and maybe just the outline.

11.

It's from a Walt Whitman poem (another of my favorites). I love the sentiment of it and i love to travel.

12.

a line from yet another favorite poem of mine. I've always wanted to fly.

13.

So yes anotherone that EVERYONE has. BUT! I love Hamlet. It's a favorite of mine. Maybe I need to find a new quote maybe this one?

14.

The last tattoo is another "Absolutely will get." I have a small Petit Prince obssesion. And the fox is the best, So I would get a picture of just the fox and either this quote:

One phrase or the other or both.
or this one:

but possibly in english because For once the English sounds better "You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed"

or lastly this one:

Whew! so that was long and possibly obnoxious. Thanks for tolerating!

Re: Rae Lemke

So this blog post will mostly be responding Rae's blog.
You're a very postive influence as well Miss Lemke! we should do sushi and lost very soon. Because how amazing was that last episode? We should totally make a theory/ disscusion blog for the two of us to just talk about Lost! I'll link to a really good lost theory/ discusion at the end of the post. Also as well as sushi!lost!funtimes! (SLFT!) we have to start MRJ!!!! Soon!

I also have olympic fever. I can't stop watching it it's so awesome. I keep watching all the athletes and being so very excited for them. I think I've seen most of the medals actually being won live, and I have never felt more proud to be canadian than I have in the past week. It means so much more to us as well, with the olympics being on home soil and winter olympics being our thing, if you talk to people in the statesa lot of them don't give a crap about the winter Olympics. It's sad!
I love that the babies love the Olympics. That is so very adorable, I still have to meet the kids p.s. if you ever want some company with the babysitting, I can so help out. (I also love point out when the control flags go down.)
Did you watching figure skating? Poor Poor Patrick Chan. I was so nervous for him! man I'm so excited for Ice Dancing, I love Ice sports.
Thats ok. we won't do lost untill after the olympics. and Yes they are so awesome, I want a pair. seriously best freaken pants ever!

Also I love your new blog format. I really need to change mine.

Poems, A letter to Evolution, and Bridges

So If you've read most of my other blog posts you'll know, I have a thing for poetry. I've quoted lots of poems over the course of this blog and I think it's important to share with you some of my favorite stuff. Maybe later this week
I'll do a post on my favorite song quotes, as I mention those a lot too. Links to all poems mentioned will be at the end of this post.

So I'm pretty sure no poetry enthusiast can do a list of their favorite poetry and leave out Walt Whitman. The man has a way with words that is beyond beautiful and is often truly moving. My Favorite Whitman poem is Passage to India. It has, in my opinion, some of Whitman's most beautiful imagery and it also has a sense of hope and joy, which can be rare for Whitman. I know that many people would say that Song of Myself is his best work and I agree, Song of myself is amazing and wonderful, but Passage to India is still my favorite mostly due to these lines:
"Passage to India!
Lo, soul, seest thou not God's purpose from the first?
The earth to be spann'd, connected by network,
The races, neighbors, to marry and be given in marriage,
The oceans to be cross'd, the distant brought near,
The lands to be welded together."
Earth be spann'd, The lands be welded together. I think these may be my favorite bits of poetry ever. I have a thing for bridges. I think they're a beautiful feat of engineering and I can't really describe it but I love them, and this poem, especially this passage represent everything I love about them.

Another favorite poem of mine isn't really a poem at all. It's actually an old nursery rhyme. A really creepy one at that. It's called A Man of Words and not of Deeds and it's pretty much warning children against being Full of shit. Or I suppose against bragging. It's telling children that actions speak louder than words, and I love it because it's Gothic and creepy and wonderful. It has really great imagery and I love the way it builds from the not very threatening "A man of words and not of deeds, Is like a garden full of weeds" to the really terrifying "And when your heart begins to bleed, You're dead, and dead, and dead indeed" SO AWESOME!

Another Poem I'm going to share, I have already quoted in this blog and that is High Flight by John Gillespie Magee, Jr. I love the sky and I love flying and this poem encompasses everything I love about the sky. It makes me wish that humans could fly without the help of flying contraptions. It also makes me really want evolution to kick in.

Dear Evolution,
I've been a big supporter and defender of yours for years and I was wondering if you could do me a favour. It IS necessary for humans to fly, please fit that into your plans for us.
Thanks,
Julie

But yes, I love this poem. I love this:
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --"
I Love this imagery. The surly bonds of earth, Sun-split clouds and Done a hundred things you have not dreamed of. I Love these lines they're some of my favorite lines ever.

More pieces of poetry that aren't actually poetry are Irish blessing. I love them, they're so pretty like this one:
An Old Irish Blessing:
"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand."
I love the lines "May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be at your back" I find myself repeating them frequently, and that I think is the mark of a good poem. I'll link to a whole page of Irish blessings for you.

The Last Poem I'm going to share with you today is my favorite poem ever. It was what got me into poetry and I don't think it'll ever be surpassed in my mind. This poem moves me and it is pretty much my motto. It's a little dark on first read but I like to see the optimism in it. At it's base level it's about someone who has hardship and doesn't let them get it down. I'm going to put the whole poem here because if you don't go read any of the poems I link to I'll understand, but you absolutely need to read this one.

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

William Ernest Henley

Every time I read it, it gives me chills. "I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul" I think this is some of the most beautiful and inspiring words I've ever read. Or at any rate they're the words that have touched me the most. I want this tattooed on me somewhere. I could probably Squee and talk symbolism of this poem for a very long time, but this post has gone on for long enough so I'll leave it at that for now, but I may return to it later in more depth.

On that note if you guys have any poems you think I'd like, or just poems that you really love please post links in the comments! If you've made it to the end of this rather long winded post then thanks! I really appreciate it.

In which there are tasty pictures ;)

I'M SORRY!!!!
Ack. It's been forever and I feel like a horrible bloggy failure. I really have nothing to write about but I felt the need to write SOMETHING so here we go! Don't expect some crazy literary genius or anything.

So my life right now is really spectacularly uneventful in the real life and extremely eventful in my online life. Which I realize sounds totally nerdy and horrible but PREPARE TO BE INTRODUCED TO MY GEEKDOM! (imagine that in a evil genius voice and it'll be far more amusing.)

First off in the past couple of months I have discovered the wonderful awesome amazingness of Battlestar Galactica which as completed my life and renewd my adoration for Sci-fi and for Tv in general. Seriously I'm ruined for tv shows now. This tv show is so brilliant and well written and well acted that I can't watch my stupid mindless teen dramas anymore without thinking "man Battlestar is so much better!" All Tv shows except for LOST are truly lesser beings in my mind. Lost is equal for me (ONE WEEK GAH I"M SO STOKED!!!!) But more importantly BSG has introduced me to my new hero (Kara Thrace) and to the new love of my life (Lee Adama) and also the actor who plays him (Jamie Bamber) (Seriously! Look how pretty!)

and

But really these pictures do not even come close to the awesome hotness of Jamie Bamber. Ok thats enough Battlestar talk. (Ok one more picture:

How can you not love a show that gives you Lee Adama towel porn? Guh!)

OK! on to Harry Potter. With the earthquake in Haiti (which sucks hard core and I will dedicate a post to that once more research has been compiled) the Harry Potter Alliance (a charity organization of people who love harry potter and get together to do great things!) (www.theharrypotteralliance.org) has put on a internet telethon to raise money and as I volunteer for them, I have been INSANELY busy with that. It was succesfull! we raised $36,000 in 6 hours and since saturday The total is $47,000. SO GOOD! if anyone is interested in donating see here http://www.thehpalliance.org/haiti/prizes for some awesome prizes you could win!

Ok thats enough for me right now!
(one more:

Jamie Bamber towel porn!!)

Bye! <3
